An epicurean exploration of the Dordogne Valley!

Make sure you take advantage of the best that the Dordogne and the Lot have to offer in terms of gastronomy and local delicacies during your stay at the Souillac Golf and Country Club.

The gastronomy of the region lives and breathes with the cycle of the seasons and through its local produce. With a rich and flavoursome cuisine, the Quercy, the Lot and the Dordogne will awaken your taste buds during your stay. Foie gras, Quercy’s black truffles, Carennac’s prunes, the Malbec wine from Cahors or local maze fed duck; these are just a few of the specialities not to be missed. All this produce is displayed on market stalls, and can be found on the menus of traditional restaurants and enjoyed during village festivals. The Dordogne valley has earned its gastronomic reputation thanks to its noble products such as Rocamadour cheese, the Croustilot (a French bread) or its famous fattened duck.

There are many other nearby outlets offering regional specialities such as Godard foie gras or “La vieille prune” from Louis Roque which can be found less than 30 minutes from the Golf & Country Club.

If you wish to know more about the production methods of these local delicacies, it is always a good idea to pay a visit to the producers directly. By car or on foot via the Reyrevignes path you can get to the La Forge farm to taste their delicious Rocamadour cheeses or pay a visit to their neighbours at La Forge Gourmande for farm visits or perhaps enjoy an evening meal at the farm in the summer.

The Domaine de Bequignol also offers walnut based-products, this time under a new guise: chocolate covered. These sweet treats are called Arlequines, another local temptation not to be missed. This chocolatier, based in Carlux, is always creating inviting new recipes for chocolates often using dried fruits and nuts.
